State and Lake -- The Verdict
A strong char taste would have Proust reminisce about his youth spent dancing around the outdoor grill. A very nice burger results. Flavorful, smokey, and juicy -- but not greasy. "Perfectly cooked" and well topped with flavorful havarti ("the meat of cheeses"). Fun condiments and sides, including great hush puppies ("yummy fried goodness"), make a great experience. The $19 "Big Girl Burger" features a broad, decadent slice of pork belly, but was a bit of a handling challenge. Maybe the bun could have held up a little better, and maybe you need an extra napkin, but if that's the worst thing that happens to you all week, you're doing pretty good. Score: a very respectful 82.
